Our son was born in Carmichael, CA on October 14, 1988.

God sent him to our loving arms on November 21, 1988.

Nathan grew up in Saugus and attended Small World Nursery School at Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, where we also were members. He went to James Foster Elementary until 6th grade. After graduation we moved to Canyon Country. He attended La Mesa Jr High and went on to graduate from Canyon High School in 2006. After high school he went to the Musicians Institute in Hollywood for keyboard. Music poured out of him. Not heavy rock or any other pop music but beautiful music.

While living in Saugus he was in T-ball and baseball through city parks, Hart Baseball from 10 to 16 yrs old, soccer, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

He was in the band at La Mesa and Canyon High.

Our son battled severe depression & anxiety and he did his share of drugs. Unfortunately heroin was one of them. He was able to quit heroin in July 2014.  We moved to Big Bear in 2015 because it's a beautiful place to retire and to give Nathan a fresh start.

He was actually starting to get his life back. He was volunteering with the San Bernadino Mountains Land Trust. Keeping the forest he loved clean and building new trailheads. They were going to hire him at $20hr. He was getting his license back and his car. Things were looking good in the short term future. Unfortunately his depression and anxiety got to be too much for him. On Thursday July 20, 2017, just 5 days shy of his 3 year clean date from heroin, he took all his prescription drugs and went to heaven.

For all who knew him, taught him, coached him or just loved him we thank you for being a part of our son's life.

I have to add to those of you who are enablers. NEVER STOP because the one day I thought I'd be tough & not come to help him he killed himself.

Nathan is survived by his mother Peggy, father Phil and sister Jamie. Plus uncles, aunts and many cousins.

Nathan will be buried at Big Bear Cemetery on Sunday August 27, 2017.

Donations to SBMLT (San Bernadino Mountains Land Trust) in Nathan's name. They are also giving him his own trail "Nathan's Trail".  Come up and hike it sometime. Nathan will be smiling down on you.
